Tehran, (ST) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed that the basis of the crisis in Ukraine is NATO’s efforts to expand, in addition to the complete disregard of the security considerations of other countries, especially Russia.
Commenting on Finland and Sweden’s decision to join NATO, Khatibzadeh said in an interview with Sputnik on Tuesday that, “the alliance must know that the end of the confrontational path is not a happy end.” He pointed out that Iran is seeking to put an end to the war in Ukraine and mitigate the damage it causes to the region and its people.
Khatibzadeh described the relations between Tehran and Moscow as strategic. He stressed that; his country will not allow any issue to disturb these relations.
