Russian People’s Support for Syria Affirmed

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Head of the Russian Committee for Supporting the Syrian People Oleg Fomin has stressed that the Russians support the Syrian people in their confrontation of the global aggression they are facing.

In an interview with the Syrian TV on Friday, Fomin, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Palestinian-Russian Orthodox Empire Society, affirmed that the Syrians are able to solve their own problems away from foreign interference.

He asserted that the United States has old schemes to disseminate chaos in the region and that now it is managing the so-called “Arab Spring” which doesn’t express the Arab public opinion, but it is a term created by Washington and other Western capitals.

Fomin pointed out the Palestinian-Russian Orthodox Empire Society has provided humanitarian aid to the Syrian people and will continue to do so with a bless from Patriarch Kirril of Moscow and All Russia.

For his part, Father Ephrem, Representative of the Russian Orthodox Patriarchate, stressed that the humanitarian assistance, offered through the Palestinian-Russian Orthodox Empire Society and the Orthodox Church, expresses the Russian people’s solidarity with the Syrian people.

Ephrem stressed that Western countries, with U.S. at the top, support the armed terrorist groups in Syria and this is a blatant violation of all moral and religious principles.

Nelly Koscova, Member of the Russian Committee for Supporting the Syrian People, said that mainstream media always provide a distorted image about what is going on in Syria as they did before in Yugoslavia, Iraq and Libya.

She stressed that the Russian media is working objectively through its correspondents to convey the real image of events in Syria.
