Damascus, (ST) – The Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its countryside and the Syrian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the aim of developing the national industry. This MoU also was signed with the aim of attracting Iranian investments to Syria, establishing joint investments and benefiting from the Iranian industrial experience in this field.
The memorandum provided for increasing in the presence of Syrian products in the Iranian market and addressing the related difficulties.
The memorandum provided for developing a plan to set up permanent exhibitions for Syrian products in Iran, in addition to establishing forums for Syrian and Iranian industrial companies.
In a statement to the media after the signing ceremony , the Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Mahdi Sobhani affirmed his country’s determination to activate economic and trade relations with the Syrian private sector and benefit from its capabilities. He called on Syrian businessmen to activate joint work between the two countries, as the Iranian embassy in Damascus is working to overcome the difficulties facing industrialists in both countries.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Damascus and its countryside Chamber of Industry, Dr. Samer Al-Dibs indicated that the signing of the memorandum comes within the framework of activating the economic work between the two countries, especially in the field of encouraging exports and imports and establishing industrial investments for reconstruction in Syria. He pointed out that there are many projects and investment opportunities that should be taken advantage of .
Al-Dibs added that, it should be encouraging to the Iranians to establish strategic industrial projects in Syria.
The Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce Fahd Darwish indicated that the memorandum aims to stimulate joint work between the two chambers in a broader way and encourage Iranian businessmen, investors and Syrian businessmen to jointly invest in many fields. He pointed out that a commercial and industrial delegation will soon visit Iran for this purpose.
