Palestinian Embassy in Damascus holds rally marking 74th anniversary of Nakba

The Palestinian Embassy in Damascus on Saturday held a rally in commemoration of the 74th anniversary of the Palestinian people’s Nakba.

In a statement during the rally, the Palestinian Ambassador to Syria Samir Al-Rifa’i affirmed the importance of commemorating the Nakba anniversary so that the Palestinian cause keeps alive in the memory of the peoples of the Arab and Islamic nations and all freedom-loving peoples in the world. He also stressed the need to criminalize all who provided facilitations and gave promises to usurp Palestine to serve the interests of the Zionist gangs which have committed the ugliest crimes against the Palestinian people.

He pointed out that the “Sykes–Picot” agreement and the ill-famed “Balfour Declaration” signal the beginning of the conspiracies hatched against Palestine and the Arab region.

Al-Rifa’i emphasized that the Palestinian people will continue to adhere to their land no matter how long it will take to liberate Palestine from occupation and to establish the independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its eternal capital.

Representatives of the Palestinian factions and Syrian and Palestinian parties as well as several cultural and social figures took part in this rally.

On May 15th, 1948, the Zionist gangs, with the help of the British occupation authorities, expelled and displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their cities and villages, turning them into refugees in neighboring countries. These gangs committed most horrible massacres that claimed the lives of thousands of innocent Palestinians, destroyed hundreds of Palestinian villages and cities and built settlements instead.
