The Union of Journalists in Syria condemns the crime of assassination of the Palestinian journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh

Damascus, (ST) –  The Union of Journalists in Syria condemned the crime of assassinating the Israeli occupation, Palestinian journalist figure, ShireenAbu Akleh. It called on the international community to take the necessary measures to hold those responsible for this crime accountable.

 The Union clarified in a statement that SANA received a copy of on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation entity is updating  its systematic practices against journalists, the most recent of which was the direct targeting of the journalist Abu Akleh with a bullet in the head, which led to her death in addition to the injury of the correspondent of the Palestinian newspaper Al-Quds, Ali Al-Samudi.

The Union indicated that this targeting is not new to the Israeli occupation, which continues to commit crimes amid the West’s continued support for it.

“The international silence about occupation’s practices and its grave violations against the Palestinian people is also continuous”, the Union added.

The union said that, we are confident that our colleagues in the occupied territories will continue their commitment to their cause and defend it, regardless of the crimes committed by this Zionistentity.

The Union of Journalists in Syria affirmed its full support for the measures taken by the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate to hold the perpetrators accountable.

The Union called on Arab and international bodies, organizations and unions to condemn the terrorism practiced by the Zionist entity against journalists and to bring those responsible for this crime to international justice.

The Union concluded its statement with the progress of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, the family of the martyr, and the Palestinian and Arab media family, with their deepest condolences.

The Union of Journalists stressed Syria’s support for the Palestinian people and their right to freedom and independence, ending the occupation and establishing their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
