Russian ambassador says West didn’t want to listen to Moscow’s justified security demands

MOSCOW, May.10, (ST)-Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov on Monday said Russia consistently advocated the creation of a system of equitable and indivisible security but these justified demands were ignored by the West.

He made the remarks during a reception to commemorate Victory Day, which was attended by ambassadors and senior diplomats of some former Soviet republics.

“Our country has always advocated the creation of a system of equal and indivisible security,” Antonov said. “But no one in the West wanted to hear the fair and justified demands of the Russian Federation for security guarantees.”

“On the contrary, the NATO states have consistently created a threat to the Russian border,” he said.
