Central celebration held at Hmeimim base in Syria marking Russia’s Victory Day

Latakia, (ST) – The Russian forces at Hmeimim base in Syria on Monday held a central celebration in commemoration of the 77th Anniversary of the Russian People’s victory over Nazim.

General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces and Minister of Defense participated in the celebration.

General Abbas delivered a speech in which he congratulated the Russian officers and soldiers at the base on this historic day, which was written by the Soviet armed forces with their sacrifices and heroisms.

 General Abbas affirmed that we in Syria highly appreciate the history of the great Russian people, and realize that the future of our peoples will only be like their history thanks to our solidarity and our close relations that are becoming more and more solid at all levels.

General Roman Berdnikov, commander of the assembly of the Russian forces operating in Syria, delivered a speech in which he indicated that the soldiers and officers of the Russian armed forces fight with honor in the face of international terrorism targeting the Syrian Arab Republic.

Berdnikov referred to the tasks that the Russian armed forces perform in the special military operation in Ukraine. He also stressed that the valor of the Russian armed forces as well as the Syrian ones  is a continuation of those tournaments that were written by the ancient warriors in both countries and which generations through history have passed on with pride.

The celebration included a military parade in which Syrian and Russian units participated, as well as a display of equipment and weapons, and air war shows in which various types of Syrian and Russian aircraft participated.
