11 Egyptian military personnel, including an officer, killed in a terrorist attack in Sinai

A deadly terror attack east of the Suez Canal in Sinai in the east of Egypt killed an Egyptian officer and 10 soldiers on Saturday.

The Egyptian Armed Forces announced the attack by takfiri terrorists on Saturday evening, adding that five more soldiers were also injured in the attack.

Al-Youm Al-Sabe’ website said citing the spokesman of the armed forces Gharib Abdul Hafez that a group of takfiri terrorists attacked a checkpoint at a water lifting station, East of Suez Canal area. Clashes erupted between the terrorists and the personnel positioned in the checkpoint, leading to the killing an officer and 10 soldiers and the wounding of five others.

 The spokesman added that the operation of chasing the terrorists continues as they are surrounded in one of the isolated areas in Sinai.

President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi of Egypt strongly condemned the attack, stressing that those treacherous terrorist operations will not undermine the determination of the Egyptian armed forces to uproot terrorism completely.
