Workers Day

Reneva Fourie is a member of the central committee of the South African communist party. She is also a political analyst currently residing in Syria .

On the occasion of Workers Day Ms.Fourie gave  Syriatimes an exclusive statement:

“We are living in an era of increasing fluidity and uncertainty at a global level.  The international balance of forces is at a critical historical tipping point. US hegemony is  declining, but there is considerable contestation and hence uncertainty about the global order that will emerge in its aftermath. International Workers’ Day emerged not only because working conditions were challenged at a factory floor level; it also emerged as a consequence of challenging the nature of capitalism and the aggression associated with imperialism. On this day we are reminded that countering imperialist aggression requires the consolidation of international solidarity.  It calls on all of us to contribute to building maximum worker unity and power across the world so that we can tilt the current balance of forces towards a new world order that is worker friendly and pro-poor.”
