The General Federation of Trade Unions: The first of May constitutes motivation for the workers of the world to work, rebuild and produce

On May 1st, the General Federation of Trade Unions in Syria affirmed that the first of May constitutes a strong motivation for all workers of the world to continue their work, rebuilding and building and to continue their struggle to achieve a free and dignified life for themselves, their children and their homelands. 

In a statement on the occasion of the International Labor Day, the union said that the working class was able, through its struggle, to confront what Syria has been subjected to for more than ten years, including a terrorist war, an unjust siege, and coercive sanctions that targeted the Syrian people for their livelihood.

The Union added: In these difficult circumstances that the world is going through, as the forces of evil and aggression continue in their quest to perpetuate unipolarity, a major global economic crisis is looming on the horizon, which is expected to affect the levels of growth in countries that are subjected to blockades and unjust sanctions imposed on them. 

The Union continued: Perhaps what the workers and Arab citizens are witnessing under the Israeli occupation in Palestine and the Golan are condemnable racist behavior which  confirms the continuation of this usurping entity (Israel) in its repressive policy and displacement and its disregard of all decisions and laws that define the responsibility of the occupation authorities towards the rightful residents amid silence of those pretending to be on the side of freedom and human rights. 

The Union stressed that what Syria has been subjected to for more than ten years requires everyone to fulfill their responsibilities and to unify national efforts to confront the unjust siege and unilateral coercive measures. 

The Union stressed that confronting the siege and continuous terrorist war that Syria is subjected to in various forms requires  using all capabilities, foremost of which is the capabilities of the working class in Syria.
