Mrs. Asma Al-Assad: Syria’s distinguished participation in “Expo 2020 Dubai” a national achievement of which all the Syrians are proud

First Lady, Mrs. Asma Al-Assad has stressed that the Syrian pavilion at “Expo 2020 Dubai” has successfully presented the image of Syria, as people, identity and culture, to the entire world and highlighted Syria’s important position and pivotal role throughout ages.

Mrs. Asma made the statement during a meeting held on Saturday via video conferencing technology with members of the work team of the Syrian pavilion at “Expo 2020 Dubai”. She thanked the team for their sincere and relentless efforts to make the Syrian participation in this major global event a success.

 Syria’s distinguished participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, which has been made possible by more than 150 Syrian persons from inside Syria and abroad, is a national achievement of which all the Syrians are proud, Mrs. Asma emphasized.

  “All the Syrians, who witnessed the success of the Syrian pavilion and its diverse activities, are proud of this great national achievement in which members of the Syrian team played an essential part,” Mrs. Asma said.

She reiterated that national achievements are not assessed by results only, but by the capabilities of the participating country and the conditions this country is experiencing.

“Syria has been suffering from terrorism and has not shaken the dust of war yet, but it was strong, effectively present and open to other peoples of the world at the expo and it shared with other countries its vision for the future,” she pointed out.

Mrs. Asma added that the fire of war wasn’t able to replace the light of Syria’s art, creativity and culture, pointing that Syria, at Expo Dubai, was beautiful and strong despite the wounds and the years of suffering.

Mrs. Asma went on to say that “Syria was present and had dialogue with other countries of the world at Expo Dubai, since it was the first to adopt the principle of communication in history through the first alphabet.  Syria also exchanged cultures with other countries, because it is the land of civilization and knowledge and the cradle of many human inventions that contributed to the progress of humanity”.

“The work team of the Syrian pavilion has proved that patriotism is embodied in deeds not words and it is a collective work that is full of enthusiasm and eagerness to do everything that serves Syria. The team has also proved that the beginning and the end of success depends on mind, work and determination no matter how limited the capabilities are,” Mrs. Asma also said.
