People in occupied Syrian Golan reaffirm their absolute rejection of Israel’s plan to set up wind turbines on their farmlands
Citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan on Friday built a sit-in tent in Al-Manfukha area, east of Baraka village to express their absolute rejection of the Israeli occupation’s plan to seize around 6000 dunums of their farmlands with the aim of setting up wind turbines.
They stressed that this plan is a blatant violation of international legitimacy resolutions and it aims at displacing the Syrians, calling on the international community to pressure the occupation to halt this settlement scheme.
Emil Masoud, member of the committee for confronting the occupation’s plan, said in a statement to SANA that the wind turbines project has harmful impacts on health, environment and agriculture and its aim at forcing citizens to leave their villages.
He reiterated that the citizens of the occupied Syrian Golan will continue to adhere to lands and their Syrian Arab identity despite all the occupation pressure.
The wind turbine scheme is one of the most dangerous colonial and Judaization schemes targeting the occupied Syrian Golan. Itt includes the seizure of about 6000 dunums within three stages. In the first, the occupation seized the lands of the villages of Eyun Al-Hajal, Mansoura and Al-Taljiyat and built 42 wind turbines on them with a height of 120 meters. In the second stage, the occupation targets the villages of Majdal Shams, Masada, Ain Qinya and Bek’atha, and the third stage targets Tal Al-Faras area.
