Takht Ravanchi: The solution to the crisis in Syria is linked to ending foreign occupation and eradicating terrorism

Tehran (ST): Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Majid Takht Ravanchi, affirmed that the solution to the crisis in Syria is linked to ending the occupation in its various names and rooting out terrorist threats, stressing that the war against terrorism should not be used as a pretext to weaken Syria and undermine its territorial integrity.

In a speech during a meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Syria, Takht Ravanchi said that the abolition of the embargo measures against the Syrian people is now more vital than at any other time, explaining that these illegal measures have left catastrophic repercussions on all aspects of citizens’ lives and are in contradiction to Resolution 2585 issued by UN Security Council on early recovery projects.

Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations praised the efforts of the Syrian government and humanitarian partners in expanding the scope of humanitarian relief operations on an ongoing basis, and said, “We renew here our request to end the looting of Syrian natural resources, especially oil and agricultural crops, by foreign forces, because this criminal act does not only violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and the resolutions issued by the Security Council and the Charter of the United Nations, but also leave a bad impact on the efforts and measures that are being implemented to revive the Syrian economy.”
