Putin: The main goal of the West is to destroy Russia

Moscow, (ST) – Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the main goal of the West is to divide Russian society and destroy the country from within. He stressed that this will not be achieved.

“Russia is facing unprecedented pressure from sanctions, but the Russian economy has all the capabilities to overcome the effects of sanctions,” Putin said during a meeting of the Public Prosecutor’s Office yesterday in Moscow.

Putin indicated that Russian society shows maturity and cohesion and supports the armed forces that continue their military operation in Ukraine. He praised the social support inside Russia for the people of Donbass who have suffered over the past eight years from the crimes of the Ukrainian Nazis against them.

Putin pointed out that extremist formations and foreign mercenaries in Ukraine are violating human rights and accusing Russia of doing it.

He added that the West is exploiting its dominance in the media space to deceive its citizens.

Putin announced that the security services had thwarted a terrorist plot targeting the assassination of a prominent media figure in Russia.

The Federal Security Service confirmed that the journalist that Putin spoke about was TV presenter Sergey Solovyov.

The Federal Security Service stated that this scheme of assassination was drawn up by order of the Ukrainian Security Service, and that its perpetrators were planning to flee from Russia after carrying out the assassination, but they were arrested and they are now confessing to the security services.
