On April 25th, the First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Hakim Al-Zamili, and the Syrian Ambassador to Iraq, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, in addition to cooperation in the political and economic fields.
“Al-Zamili stressed the need to boost the level of security coordination between the two countries, especially controlling and monitoring the common borders to ensure that terrorist groups do not infiltrate and limit oil smuggling operations,” the presidency of the Iraqi parliament said in a statement.
The statement pointed to the importance of exchanging intelligence information on the movements of terrorist cells, especially in the areas where they are active between the two countries.
Al-Zamili and Al-Dandah stressed the importance of investing in the current political relations to strengthen investment in the fields of agriculture and industry and revitalizing the commercial movement to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
For his part, Al-Dandah stressed the depth of relations between the two brotherly countries in all fields, and said in a statement that Syria pays great attention to parliamentary diplomacy and its important role at this stage.
Al-Dandah indicated that the two sides discussed providing facilities to the Syrian community, solving their problems and dealing with the principle of reciprocity.
