Bishop Sarkissian: Syria has supported Armenians in their ordeals

TEHRAN, April.25, (ST)- The Bishop of the Holy Sarkis Church in Tehran Sibawayh Sarkissian has affirmed that Syria embraced the Armenians and supported them in their ordeals  which they faced following the Ottoman genocide they were subjected to, indicating that Syria’s recognition of this genocide is highly appreciated by the Armenians all over the world.

The bishop’s remarks came when  the Syrian Ambassador in Tehran Shafik Dayyoub offered congratulations to the Armenians in Iran on the occasion of Easter.

Sarkissian stressed that the terrorist war against Syria has been  planned by the Zionist entity, which is trying to destroy the wonderful model that Syria represents among all its people.

The Bishop praised Syria’s great efforts and its role in preserving the Christian presence in the region, stressing the Armenians’ support for the unity, sovereignty and independence of Syria.

For his part, Dayyoub pointed out that the celebration of Easter coincided with the commemoration of the 107th anniversary of the Ottoman genocide that the Armenians were subjected to, stressing that the Erdogan regime continued to practice crimes of genocide and occupation and to support terrorism that was practiced by the Ottomans.

The ambassador stressed that the Syrians, in all their sects and components, will rebuild what was destroyed by terrorism in Syria, referring to the importance of consolidating and strengthening the Christian presence in the region, for which Syria was a cradle.
