The Syrian governorate of Tartous on Saturday honored 275 families of martyrs from the Syrian Arab Army in recognition of the martyrs’ sacrifices in defense of the homeland.
The honoring ceremony was held at the Arab Cultural Center in the city of Tartous. It included granting medals of sincerity for the martyrs’ families, screening a documentary depicting the heroic operations of the Syrian Arab Army and artistic folkloric shows performed by “El Yama” folkloric band to glorify the army and the martyrs.
Tartous Governor Safwan Abu Sa’da said in a statement that the sacrifices of the Syrian Army, the unity and steadfastness of the Syrian people, the patience of martyrs’ families and the wise leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad have led to a great victory over terrorism and its supporters.
On his part, Bassam Barri, Director of the Affairs of the Martyrs, the Wounded and the Missing, said that “the martyrs have embodied the meaning of sacrifice in defense of the homeland. They have expressed their love to their homeland through offering their souls to maintain the dignity, strength and sanctity of this homeland.”
Areej Dayyoub, the wife of martyr pilot Alaa Dayyoub, made a speech in which she glorified martyrdom and hailed the great sacrifices of the martyrs.
She stressed that all citizens of the homeland support the families of the martyrs and highly appreciate their sacrifices.
