Damascus (ST): Some Syrian bands are trying to present heritage in new ways and templates that are popular with viewers, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, including the “Trabeesh Style” band, led by Maestro Moataz Al-Nabulsi.
The band, which is new, as its leader explains in a statement, was founded in 2017 and relies in its character on the template of the newly developed monologue to present it to the viewers in a contemporary way, with a dress that mimics the old Damascene costume and focuses on the fez.
Al-Nabulsi said that the band presented two songs this year, the first on the current New Year, and it talks about the past year with its concerns and problems, and the second about the blessed month of Ramadan with its customs and traditions.
Regarding the difference between the “Tarabish Style” and “Attar” bands, which are also led by Nabulsi, the latter shows that the idea of Tarbeesh was originally derived from Attar, which includes between 40 and 50 musicians, and specializes in oriental and Sufi arts and Andalusian muwashahat since it was founded in 2007 with the presentation of traditional dances such as Samah and Mawlawiya.
Al-Nabulsi pointed out that the Tarbeesh style reflects the blending of the modern style with the traditional style in terms of outfit, ideas and style. In all of its songs, Tarbeesh style relies on the “Live Station” method, which is a difficult method in presenting songs and requires harmony between the band members and great accuracy in performance.
