Activities of the Sheikh Saleh Al-Ali Festival kicked off in Sheikh Badr City

Tartous, (ST) – The activities of the Sheikh Saleh Al-Ali Festival in its twenty-fourth session, which include activities and art exhibitions kicked off yesterday in the vicinity of the  burial place of the Mujahid Sheikh Saleh Al-Ali in the city of Sheikh Badr in Tartous Governorate.

Researcher Shaheen Shaheen said in a statement to a SANA reporter that this celebration from the place of the burial place of the great Mujahid has a high value, as from this place the first bullet was fired against the French colonizer.

Secretary of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party Division in Sheikh Badr, Eng. Rehab Abbas indicated that, the festival has become an annual tradition in commemoration of the evacuation of the French colonizer.

 

The craftsmen participating in the festival expressed their pride on this occasion, which means a lot to them. Craftswoman Roja Ibrahim exhibited products of silk and thread, including silk shawls, paintings and bedspreads.

Ibrahim indicated that she is participating in the festival to revive a profession that was encouraged by the Mujahid Sheikh. The craftswoman NazmiyaIsmail considered this participation for her as a cause for pride, as she participates in crafts made of bamboo, pottery and straw.

The participating plastic artists and sculptors saw that,the participation in this festival as a duty to commemorate the struggle against the French occupier.

Sculptor Muhammad Hammoud participated in sculptures bearing international cultural and literary themes made of oak, which symbolizes the people of this steadfast generation. 

The poets participating in the festival affirmed that their participation is a source of pride, especially in this particular place because it evokes all the sacrifices made by the Mujahid Sheikh Saleh Al-Ali and his companions, according to the poet Dr. Osama Hammoud, a member of the Arab Writers Union.

In turn, the poet Marwa Halawa, who comes from Hama Governorate, indicated that her participation in the festival is an affirmation of the cohesion of the sons of the homeland and their follow in the footsteps of the first Mujahideen who achieved evacuation of the French occupier.
