Medvedev comments on the issue of Sweden and Finland joining NATO

Deputy Chairman of the Russian National Security Council Dmitry Medvedev described as “futile” attempts to link the Russian special military operation in Ukraine with the issue of Sweden and Finland joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization “NATO”.

Medvedev said on his Telegram channel today, “Attempts have previously been made to include Finland and Sweden in the NATO, as is the case with Ukraine. Thus, the price of their membership in the alliance is different for Moscow.

Sources revealed to the Swedish newspaper Expressen that Finland had expressed a clear desire to the Swedish government that both countries should jointly apply for NATO membership, while the British newspaper The Times reported earlier that Stockholm and Helsinki intend to join the alliance this summer.
