China: International community should be vigilant about some Western countries’ return to Cold War mentality

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced that his country is ready to join efforts with the international community to confront the Cold War ideology revived by the West and prevent division in the world.

During a telephone conversation with his Serbian counterpart Nikola Silakovic, the head of Chinese diplomacy said: “In the current situation, the international community must be especially vigilant about the return of (a number of Western countries) to thinking in the manner of the Cold War era. It is necessary that we together resist attempts to divide the world.

And the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry quoted Wang Yi as saying that Serbia found itself in a very difficult situation due to destabilizing external factors.

“However, you can successfully overcome difficulties, just focus and firmly strive for development,” the Chinese foreign minister stressed, expressing confidence that Belgrade will be able to “prudently protect its rights and interests” under the difficult international situation.

The Chinese minister stressed that Beijing, despite the ongoing changes, intends to continue implementing important infrastructure projects in Europe, in particular, helping Serbia to build railways, and said in this regard: “We will support pivotal companies, and we will enhance their success and development,” noting that His country’s authorities expect the two countries to sign a free trade agreement in the near future, noting that this “will create a strong incentive for cooperation and enable your country to increase its competitiveness.”
