Damascus (ST): Handicrafts, embroideries, accessories and artistic paintings were displayed by the residents of Dar Al-Karama today in an exhibition entitled (Our Heritage is Our Dignity), which was held by the Damascus Governorate, the Syrian Society for Social Development and the Watan ( Homeland) Document Foundation and will continue for two days at the Foundation’s headquarters in Damascus.
The Special Adviser at the Presidency of the Republic and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Watan Document Foundation, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, indicated in a statement to news reporter that the message from the residents’ participation in the exhibition is that they are still a productive part of society and their role is essential in preserving Syria’s identity and heritage.
Shaaban added that one of the goals of the war against Syria is to destroy its national and cultural identity, pointing out that preserving the identity and civilization of the homeland is everyone’s responsibility, including heritage and handicrafts.
Member of the Executive Office of the Health, Social Affairs and Labor Sector in the Governorate, Basil Mihoub, in turn, saw that the residents of Dar Al Karama, through their products, demonstrated their skills and their continuous ability to give and produce, noting that the governorate aims through these events to highlight the inmates as productive groups and to show their skills to all.
