Armenia announced that its Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev directed their foreign ministries to start preparations for peace negotiations.
“After a tripartite meeting with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan directed the two foreign ministries to start preparatory work for peace negotiations between the two countries,” RIA Novosti Agency quoted the Armenian Cabinet as saying in a statement.
The statement indicated that “as a result of the meeting, an understanding was reached in accordance with the Sochi Agreement of November 26, 2021 to establish a bilateral commission for the demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan by the end of April.”
The committee will deal with issues of ensuring security and stability along the border line between the two countries.
