Accusations related to Bucha incident should be based on facts — Chinese Foreign Ministry

BEIJING, April 6. (ST)- All accusations related to the situation in the Ukrainian town of Bucha should be based on real facts, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a briefing on Wednesday.

“Any accusations should be based on real facts. There is a need to exercise restraint until an investigation is conducted,” he pointed out.

According to the diplomat, China supports initiatives that facilitate efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. “China is taking real steps in this direction,” he noted.

Zhao Lijian also emphasized the need to figure out “what really happened and the reasons behind it.”

The Russian Defense Ministry earlier rejected the Kiev regime’s accusations of civilian killings in Bucha, Kiev Region. The ministry noted that the Russian Armed Forces had left Bucha on March 30, while “the evidence of crimes” emerged only four days later, after Ukrainian Security Service officers had entered the town. The ministry stressed that on March 31, the town’s Mayor Anatoly Fedoruk had confirmed in a video address that there were no Russian troops in Bucha. However, he did not say a word about civilians shot dead on the street.
