Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has stressed that his country won’t vote in favor of imposing more sanctions on Russia.
In a statement published on the Hungarian Foreign Ministry’s website on Wednesday, Szijjarto said that the ministry summoned Ukraine’s ambassador in Budapest Lyubov Nepop over offensive and insulting comments by Ukrainian authorities against Hungary regarding Budapest’s stance on Russia’s operation in Ukraine.
“It is time for Ukrainian leaders to stop their insults directed at Hungary and acknowledge the will of the Hungarian people,” Szijjarto added.
He reiterated that the security of Hungary and the Hungarian people has always been the top priority of the Hungarian government, therefore, “we won’t supply Ukraine with weapons and won’t vote in favor of the anti- Russia sanctions.”
