Yemen has the highest number of cluster bomb victims in the world

SANA’A, (ST) – The Director of the Executive Center for Mine Action in Yemen, Brigadier Ali Safra, confirmed that Yemen is the country with the highest recorded number of  victims of cluster bombs .

During an event organized by the National Committee and the Executive Center for Mine Action in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, , on the occasion of the International Day for Awareness of the Risks of Mine and Cluster Bombs, Safra said that due to the Saudi aggression on Yemen, cluster bombs have been thrown on all governorates and districts without exception due to their excessive useHe indicated that the number of raids in which cluster bombs were used reached 2,500.

Safra indicated that the number of civilian casualties as a result of the aggression’s use of cluster bombs as of last March reached 3,921 civilians, including 119 children, 39 women and 879 men, and 2,884 civilians were wounded, including 257 children, 76 women and 2,551 men. He pointed out that the cluster bombs during the seven years of the aggression caused more destruction and damage to more than 155 roads, 11 networks, a communication station, 16 stations, an electricity generator, 3 ports, 37 tanks, a water network, and 423 homes.
