President Miguel Diaz Canel of Cuba has stressed the strong and deep historical relations between his country and Syria.
During his meeting with Syria’s Ambassador to Cuba Idris Mayya on the occasion of ending his term of office in the country, Canel condemned the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, reiterating the importance of consolidating the relations between the two countries.
The Cuban President hailed President Bashar Al-Assad’s wise leadership and the Syrian people’s legendary steadfastness in the face of the terrorist war.
On his part, Mayya conveyed President Al-Assad’s greetings and best wishes of progress to President Canel and the friendly people of Cuba, expressing his gratitude to the Cuban leadership and ministries for supporting the enhancement of bilateral ties between Syria and Cuba in all domains.

The Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero held a meeting with Mayya during which Marrero confirmed Cuba’s support for Syria in all fields and its rejection of the war that has been waged on the country for more than 11 years.
Mayya, on his part, asserted Syria’s firm support for Cuba at all international forums and its condemnation of the US blockade and coercive measures imposed on the country.
