Damascus Governorate, Defense Ministry honors 370 families of martyrs from the army and armed forces

DAMASCUS, March.29, (ST)- Damascus Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, honored on Tuesday 370 families of martyrs from the army and armed forces on the occasion of Mother’s Day during a ceremony held  at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus under the title  “Mother is our Homeland”. 
 
The honoring ceremony included a film that talks about the values of martyrdom, a theatrical performance of the Aram Group entitled “Khaldoon”, dances performed by the Amal Group  and songs by the choir of the daughters of the martyrs.
 
The Governor of Damascus, Adel Al-Olabi, said that the honoring stresses that the sacrifices of the martyrs will remain deeply rooted in the memory to guide future generations and to follow in their footsteps towards the journey of struggle and defending the country.
 
For his part, the Director of the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Persons at the Ministry of Defense, Major General Bassam Berri, said that the ceremony is a message of thanks and gratitude to the families of the men who completed the  battle against colonial projects and managed with their heroism to preserve the homeland’s dignity, sovereignty and independence and preserved its Arabism, history and civilization.
