West bears responsibility for the suffering of the Syrian people, says Bekmatov

Bratislava, (ST) – The head of the Slovak Socialist Party, Artur Bekmatov, affirmed that the United States, Western countries and the Turkish regime are constantly working to prolong the crisis in Syria and impede the reconstruction process in it.

 In a comment posted on his Facebook page, Bekmatov said that “the United States and the Turkish regime continue to occupy parts of the Syrian territories directly and through terrorist organizations, which represent a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and international law.” He stressed that the West also bears responsibility for the suffering Syria is experiencing. Syrians as a result of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on them.

Bekmatov pointed out that the situation in Syria clearly reflects the duplicity of the West, as it violates international law when it is appropriate for it, and calls for its application towards other issues that coincide with its interests.
