Four foreign travelers visit Palmyra to write a book on Syria’s archeological and tourist sites

Four French travelers on their motorcycles on Friday visited the historical Syrian city of Palmyra with the aim of writing a book on the Syrian archeological and tourist sites. They seek documenting these sites through taking photos and publishing articles, prepared by foreign media outlets and magazines, particularly about the historical Syrian sites destroyed by the terrorists.

During their tour in the archeological and tourist places in Palmyra, the travelers visited the Temple of Baal, the Arch of Triumph, the Great Colonnade, Palmyra’s Theater and Palmyra’s national Museum among other sites.

Mohammad Arnaout, Head of the Tourist Guides Section at the Syrian Chamber of Tourism, organizer of the travelers’ tour in Syria, told SANA that among the four French travelers was the French writer Sylvain Tesson. They came to Syria from France by their motorcycles, passing through several countries with the aim of documenting the history and civilization of ancient Syria and monitoring the live of the Syrian people and their steadfastness during the war waged on them.

Arnaout clarified that the travelers will concentrate in their tour on Palmyra and some other historical sites in Aleppo, Lattakia, Homs and Damascus.

On Thursday, two foreign tourist groups visited Palmyra to get acquainted with the city’s civilization and heritage and to document the destruction that has befallen the city due to attacks by the ISIS (Daesh) terrorist organization before its defeat in the area by the Syrian Arab Army.
