UNITED NATIONS, March 24. (ST)- The UN General Assembly exceeded its authority while adopting the Western draft resolution on Ukraine, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya stated after the vote.
“Under an unprecedented pressure of Western countries, the General Assembly once again exceeded the limits of its authority, trying to issue commands on issues of upholding international peace and stability,” he said.
According to the UN Charter, the General Assembly does not have an authority to provide recommendations on upholding international peace and stability, while the adopted Western resolution contains a call for immediate cessation of hostilities.
