The 7th Pharmaceutical Days Forum kicks off in Damascus

DAMASCUS, March.24, (ST)-Under the title “The Keys of Therapeutic Nanotechnology), the 7th  Damascus Pharmaceutical Days Forum (DAMAS PHAD 7) kicked off on Thursday at the “Dama Rose” Hotel in Damascus.. 
 
The three-day event , which is being held by the Damascus Pharmacists Syndicate, will include  lectures and scientific sessions on the prospects of nanotechnology in pharmaceutical sciences and experiences in managing viral infection and societal and legal challenges in dispensing Medicines, the concept of green pharmacy, and experiences related to dealing with the Corona virus.
 
In a speech during the opening ceremony, the Minister of Health Hassan Al-Ghabash affirmed the continuity of government support to the national pharmaceutical industries despite the repercussions of the terrorist war and the economic blockade, through several measures, including exempting production requirements and raw materials from customs duties and taxes, and protecting the local pharmaceutical product by not allowing the import of pharmaceuticals that have more than one local manufacturer with strict standards for effective and safe drug production.
 
For her part, the head of the Damascus Pharmacists Syndicate, Alya Al-Assad, stressed the importance of scientific research in developing the work of pharmaceutical laboratories, responding to their needs and finding solutions to their problems, based on the necessity of linking scientific research with society to become a part of it. 
 
The resident representative of the World Health Organization (WHO),  Akjamal Makhtumova, said in her speech that holding the forum during the conditions the country is going through in general and the pharmaceutical sector and pharmaceutical industries in particular is an evidence of the Syrian pharmacists’ commitment to developing their profession and their desire to start the rebuilding stage.
 
The forum will last until the 26th of this month, accompanied by medical exhibition for national and international medicines.
