President Al-Assad receives Iranian Foreign Minister

DAMASCUS, March.22, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad received on Wednesday the Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian and the accompanying delegation. 
 
The talks between the two sides dealt with the files of cooperation between the two countries and the efforts being exerted by the two sides to follow up the implementation of bilateral agreements, especially in the sectors of economy and trade in spite of  the illegitimate unilateral measures imposed by the west on Syria and Iran.
 
The ways of strengthening bilateral ties between the Syrian and Iranian peoples for their interest and for enhancing their steadfastness and the continuity of cooperation in fighting terrorism were also an the table.
 
Abdollahian renewed his country’s support to Syria and its people until the liberation of all Syrian areas, pointing out that Syria’s practice of its role is essential for the achievement of stability in the region.
 
The Iranian minister briefed President Al-Assad on the ongoing talks on the Iranian nuclear file, indicating that his country presented initiatives that go along with the rights and interests of the Iranian people.
 
He asserted that reaching an agreement necessitates serious determination by western parties to respond to these initiatives.
 
For his part, President Al-Assad affirmed the correctness of the path Iran is taking in this regard through its adherence to principles and rights despite the pressures put on it. 
 
The president said that there are no intentions but principles and standards in politics, adding that reaching an agreement on the Iranian nuclear file has become more important than ever for serving the interests of Iran and the region and for world balance.  
 
The two sides exchanged view points over several political issues of common interests including the Russian Special military operation in Ukraine. 
 
They stressed the importance of the stability of international relations with the aim of not exposing the international balance to serious shocks.
 
The two sides agreed on intensifying communication between Syria and Iran in the light of the developments that are happening in this turning stage in the world.
