“The visit is another opportunity for holding consultations between the two counties on different issues of common interest as well as on the current situation in the region and the world,” Al-Mikdad said.

He stressed Syria’s firm support for Iran’s intelligent and innovative way of dealing with the nuclear file.

Talks will also focus on enhancing bilateral ties, the current developments in the light of the Russian military operation in Ukraine and the Syrian and Iranian stances on these developments, Al-Mikdad added, pointing out that the talks will be fruitful and will serve the interests of the two countries.

On his part, Abdullahian said “we are in the same trench in the face of challenges. Iran supports the Syrian leadership, government and people and it is keen on boosting the distinguished strategic relations between the two countries”.

He added that the talks will give the political, economic and trade ties a push forward, with special focus on the economic filed.
