Sabbagh: Syrian people will not allow anyone to impose conditions on them

New York, (ST) – The permanent representative of Syria to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh affirmed that, the United States of America insists on its hostile approach and subversive policies towards Syria by using all tools of war against it. He stressed that the Syrian people, who have withstood the huge war machine, will not allow anyone to impose any conditions or dictates on them.

In a statement on Monday, Sabbagh said that, “the statement issued by the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Greenfield, on March 15 is nothing but a repetition of what officials of successive US administrations have been doing over the past 11 years. “The common thing of this repetition is a separation from reality, a wrong description of events, and the fabricated information with the aim of misleading public opinion,” he added.

Sabbagh also said that, for 11 years now, Washington has insisted on its hostile approach and subversive policies towards Syria by using all tools of war against it. “Washington started with campaigns of incitement, misinformation and lying to using the terrorist organizations and separatist militias, leading to direct occupation and imposing coercive measures”, he added.

Ambassador Sabbagh pointed out that Greenfield’s expression of concern about the humanitarian situation in Syria contradicts her country’s imposition of illegal coercive measures on the Syrian people that caused catastrophic effects on them, as these bad effects of these illegal measures included all aspects of Syrian people’s life.

Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations stressed that it is hypocritical for the Washington delegate, Linda Greenfield to express concern about the “plight of the Syrian people”, while at the same time her country has supported a terrorist separatist militia that has caused a great crisis to the people of the Al-Jazeera region.

“US, has also stolen Syrian national wealth and its clear violation of Syria’s sovereignty and decisions of the Security Council and the Charter of the United Nations through US direct occupation of parts of Syrian territories”, Sabbagh added.

Sabbagh pointed out that Greenfield’s claim that Washington is keen to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria is just talk aimed at prolonging the crisis and obstructing reaching any real solution.

Sabbagh stressed that the Syrian people, who withstood the huge war machine and its tools, defeated with heroism the terrorist project, and valiantly defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their country, will not allow anyone to impose any conditions on them.

“The Syrian people are determined to hold all those who contributed to the shedding of Syrian blood, the destruction of their achievements and the theft of their wealth, the political, moral and criminal responsibility for that”, Ambassador Sabbagh concluded.
