Al-Jaafari discusses with the Secretary-General of the Norwegian Church Aid its fields of work in Syria

Damascus (ST):  Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, discussed with the Secretary-General of the Norwegian Church Aid Dagvin Huibratyn the work of the organization and the areas in which it will be active in Syria, especially in the water, sanitation and protection sectors.

Al-Jaafari stressed the importance of the organization’s role in alleviating the suffering of the Syrian citizen, especially as it is an eyewitness to that suffering within the framework of implementing its plans on the ground, explaining that unilateral, immoral and illegal coercive economic measures are the basis of the suffering of the Syrian people, whether in the economic, water or other fields.

Al-Jaafari pointed to the need for the Norwegian Church Aid and other non-governmental organizations to abide by the provisions of Security Council Resolution No. 2585 regarding the need to move from the stage of humanitarian aid to the stage of early recovery and to include its voice with the voices of countries and organizations calling for the lifting of these illegal coercive measures.

Al-Jaafari stressed the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding between the organization and the Ministry of Water Resources with the aim of finding ways to support humanitarian activities in Syria, calling on it to benefit from the partnership with the national partner, the Syria Trust for Development, to implement the projects and programs outlined in the current year’s plan.

For his part, the Secretary-General of Norwegian Church Aid presented the most important programs and projects implemented by the organization and which it is working to implement in the areas of water, sanitation and protection, expressing his thanks to Syria for granting approval to the organization for activity in Syria.
