Russia intends to dispense with foreign components in the production of its civil aircraft

Moscow (ST): The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade revealed today that work is underway to dispense with foreign components in the civil aircraft industry in the country.

Russian media quoted the ministry’s press service as saying in a statement that the ministry recently hosted a meeting to discuss issues of civil aircraft production in the country, and the main topic was the replacement of the strategy for the production of components for the Russian “SSG 100” aircraft and plans to increase the number of assigned “SSG Neo” aircraft for export.

The statement added, “The production capabilities of the facilities of the Russian industry allow the development of 40 SSG Neo aircraft per year, and we will seek to produce a similar number of copies of these export aircrafts.”

For his part, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Minturov said, “It is necessary to focus on replacing the Russian-French SAM 146 engines used in the SSG 100 aircraft, replacing them with Russian-made BD8 engines, and ensuring the adoption of these engines in a trial period ranging from Between 12 and 14 months.
