The racist practices of the occupation against Syrian workers of Golan in front of the International Labor Organization
The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Muhammad Seif El-Din, discussed today with the Director of Documentation and Relations at the International Labor Organization ILO Frank Hagman, during a video conference, the situation of Syrian workers in the occupied Syrian Arab Golan.
Minister Seif El-Din called for activating the work of the fact-finding committee in the organization for its legal and moral importance in shedding light on the suffering of Syrian workers in the occupied Syrian Arab Golan and other occupied Arab territories and on the Israeli occupation’s violation of all resolutions issued by the international organization and its affiliated bodies.
Minister Seif El-Din expressed his hope that the organization’s report on the conditions of Arab workers in the occupied territories this year will receive the required attention, taking into account the clearly and explicitly inclusion in the report of recommendations and initiatives that expose the practices of the Israeli occupation and its serious violations against Syrian citizens in the occupied Golan, and its adoption as an official document of the next session for the International Labor Conference.
The Minister of Social Affairs pointed to the importance of implementing ILO conventions and basic principles and rights at work in order to ensure social protection for Syrian workers in the occupied Syrian Arab Golan.
For their part, the participants from several ministries and representatives of employers and workers, in their interventions during the meeting, called on the international organization to pay more attention to the conditions of workers and employers in the occupied Golan who suffer violations and racist and discriminatory practices by the Israeli occupation authorities. The participants demanded to apply pressure on the occupation authorities to stop these practices and abide by the relevant international legitimacy resolution and by the ILO resolutions in particular.
