Russian Foreign Ministry: Moscow will not participate in the sessions of the Council of Europe

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russia will no longer participate in the sessions of the Council of Europe.

The Ministry said in a statement circulated by the Russian RIA Novosti news agency today, “The countries that are not friendly to Russia, i.e., the European Union and NATO countries, are exploiting their absolute majority in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and continue to destroy the Council.”

The Ministry made it clear that Russia does not want to tolerate these sabotage acts carried out by the Western bloc in line with the imposition of a rules-based system to replace the international legal system that the United States and its orbiters have violated.

The statement added that Moscow will not join NATO and the European Union by turning the oldest European organization into another platform for slogans of Western supremacy and narcissism.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, announced late last month that the suspension of her country’s membership in the “Council of Europe” was a politicized decision and that the aforementioned organization would lose its European identity which is  evidence of the fact that the organization has lost its independence and has become a tool in the hands of the Western bloc and its followers.
