A Solidarity stand for students and professors of Damascus University in support of Russia and its people

Damascus, (ST) –  The students, professors, and employees of Damascus University witnessed on Wednesday a stand of solidarity in support of Russia and its people in confronting the American and Western policies that aim at undermining Russia’s security and stability.

The participants in the stand that was organized by the Damascus University Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party in the university city of Martyr Basil Al-Assad in Damascus raised the Syrian and Russian national flags and chanted slogans supporting Russia and condemning the hostile Western policies. They affirmed their confidence in the victory of the two countries over terrorism and Nazism and their supporters.

 The Secretary of the Damascus University branch of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, Dr. Khaled Al-Halbouni, said in a statement to SANA that, “we have come to confirm our stand with Russia, the people, the army, and the leadership against neo-Naziism, and to send a message of loyalty to the Russian people who stood by the Syrian people in their war against terrorism.” He indicated that it is their right – Russia has to defend its national security in the face of NATO’s attempts to expand.

In turn, the Head of Damascus University, Dr. “Mohammed Osama Al-Jabban” affirmed standing by the friendly Russian people and looking forward to a multipolar world in which freedom, justice and equality prevail.

Dr. Haitham Mahmoud, a teacher in the Russian Language Department at Damascus University, saidthat, “we send a message of love and peace to Russia, the government and people, which have stood by Syria in its ordeal and its war against terrorism”.

Student, Yazan Hamsho said that, Russia is a friendly country, and it has distinguished historical relations with Syria, and solidarity with it is imperative.

Meanwhile, Rahaf Diop, Hadeel Hammad and NourHossam El-Din affirmed that their participation in the stand is to reciprocate  loyalty to the friendly country that supported Syria during the years of the crisis and to denounce the forces of aggression and global imperialism.
