The first war-wounded to obtain a doctorate in agricultural engineering at Tishreen University

The Faculty of Agriculture at Tishreen University discussed the doctoral thesis of the wounded soldier Soqrate Ahmed, one of the seven wounded with “total disability” at the postgraduate level, and the first war-wounded to obtain a doctorate with an excellent rate.

Soqrate began preparing for the thesis after he was injured in 2017, during the battles to liberate Palmyra, which led to the amputation of his left leg and several other injuries.

In his thesis, he discussed “the effect of adding peat water to bovine manure on the production of biogas and the quality of the resulting organic fertilizer and its role in the growth of yellow corn plants.

The aim of this study, according to Soqrate, has three dimensions:

an environmental dimension In terms of disposal of peat water in an environmentally friendly manner, an economic dimension in terms of biogas production, and another related to reducing the amount of mineral fertilizers added to the soil and saving its high price, as well as obtaining a good organic product.

Soqrate graduated from Tishreen University in 2007 and obtained a diploma in 2008 to continue his master’s studies in Egypt at Ain Shams University under a scholarship, then returned to Syria and join the military service, completing his education to obtain a doctorate after injury with the support of the Wounded Home Project.
