Ladies chose education to make a difference in their community

She did not give up her profession after  abandoning her house due to terrorism  in the Qaboun district of Damascus because she believed in the importance of education for the recovery and positive change of societies and in the ability of women to make a difference everywhere they are. This is what  Kulthum Jenaid told a SANA reporter after she founded a home – based education project dedicated to helping her new neighborhood students and to children who suffer from learning difficulties.

Jenaid stated that she had been working at a school before abandoning  her home due to terrorist groups, but that did not prevent her from pursuing her work despite difficult circumstances she had gone through. She founded her project and attracted a number of neighborhood children and began teaching and helping them to improve their educational level so that children with special learning difficulties could subsequently be targeted.

Jenaid indicated that her work with these children gives her a sense of joy and achievement, especially after recognizing their results and celebrating their success considering that work of any kind contributes to making a person’s life more powerful and valuable in various respects and gives him a sense of satisfaction.

Jenaid is not the only one who has chosen to work with children with learning difficulties and disabilities, as it is an area where  women excel .

Malakah Al Shehab works with the “Lamat Amal” initiative in Damascus to train mothers to deal with their children with mental disabilities.

Al-Shahab explains that her work is focused on training mothers to deal with their children in a positive way through motor activities and hobbies outside or inside the home and encouraging them to express their feelings, pointing to her ambition to establish a special training center for children with  mental disabilities.

Mirna Deeb also decided to work in the same field, but after receiving training through a small business management course, and now she works as a yoga trainer for autistic children in the Amal Organization, where she helps these children, as she mentioned, to get rid of seizures, spasms, and extreme anger.

Deeb said that her work with autistic children made her a positive person in her surroundings, and family, indicating that women are able to work in any field; especially areas related to children, as they are more able to deal with them and their needs and understand the mother and understand  her reactions.
