NEWYORK, (ST)_ Syria’s permanent representative to the UN Dr. Bashar Jaafari stressed that the Israeli occupation of Arab lands and its implications on the region’s security and stability in the region reached dangerous stages under international disability to force Israel to end its occupation of Arab lands, according to relevant international legitimacy resolutions
Jaafari said in a statement at the rotating public meeting held by the Security Council yesterday to discuss the item entitled “The situation in the Middle East:” The Syrian delegation rejected the insistence of certain delegations to divert deliberations on item “The situation in the Middle East,” from the main objective, via intercalation of other irrelevant topics , including internal conditions in Syria , Egypt or Lebanon or other countries, noting the aim is marginalization of the issue of the Israeli occupation of Arab land.
Jaafari regretted Representative of the UN Secretary-General ,in his briefing in naming the Golan “Heights,” instead of “the occupied Syrian Golan,” as legally described by the UN , in not stressing the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation of the Golan or giving mention to the existing cooperation between Israel on the one hand and armed terrorist groups that are active in the buffer zone, on the other.
“We have a lot to refute and disprove the allegations raised by delegations of States which support , harbor and arm terrorists , spread extremism and sabotage in Syria and work hard to thwart any peaceful solution led by Syria to end the crisis , especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and some Western countries ,a fact confirmed recently both by Zigino Brzezinski, former US national security adviser, Roland Dumas, former French foreign minister.
Jaafari indicated the implications of the Israeli occupation of Arab territories on the region ‘s security and stability under the failure of the international community to compel Israel to end its occupation of Arab lands and its violations of international conventions , especially Geneva Convention of 1949 and its unprecedented settlement policy.
Jaafari also noted Israel ‘s attempt to adopt the so-called “Prawer-Begin plan ” which virtually aims to confiscate 800 thousand acres of Arab land in the Negev , demolition of about 36 Arab villages and the deportation of 45 thousand Palestinian residents from their homes to build Israeli settlements in the place .
No international action to stop Israeli violations in the occupied Syrian Golan
” During 46 years of Israel’s occupation of the Golan , there is no mention on the practices of barbarism there, no call to convene meetings to defend the people of the occupied Golan living under occupation and displaced people who were expelled by Israel from their land or for conferences to raise humanitarian donations,Jaafari said, adding that ” in the light of the international silence , Israel attacked Syria on May 5th, 2013 and continues threats to launch more acts of aggression.
He continued that Israeli occupation forces provide assistance to the armed terrorist groups in the buffer zone in the Golan ,through transfer of wounded terrorists across the line of separation to Israeli hospitals to be treated there and then brought back into Syrian territory to pursue their terrorist acts in the area.
He explained that Israel ‘s help of terrorists in Syria does not only constitute a flagrant violation of the agreement on the separation of forces , UNDOF mandate and the international law, but also endangers the lives of UN forces operating there, recalling several attacks made by these terrorist groups, especially kidnapping UNDOF peacekeepers at direct instigation of Qatar’s intelligence which is extremely dangerous .
“One should not deceive himself and the world, nor continue to make excuses and justifications for Israel. Everyone knows for sure that Israel as an entity was based on ethnic cleansing , never been concerned with peace , responded to all peace initiatives by procrastination and invoked what it falsely calls security concerns at the expense of the rights of Arabs living under Israeli occupation for decades.” Jaafari, concluded.
