Al-Shebel: Russia has never sought war, but war was imposed on it

Special Adviser at the Republic Presidency, Luna al-Shebel, said that Syria, due to its strong relation with Russia, has been following Ukraine issue, particularly as war on Syria hasn’t been targeting it alone, but war was targeting Russia too.

“Russia has never left any means to avoid what is taking place in Ukraine, but it tried to do so, it knows that any war has a precious cost, so, it is illogic that Russia seeks war, but the war was imposed on it,” al-Shebel told RT in an interview broadcast on Monday.

Al-Shebal said that Syria supports Russia in its military operation as any country can’t remain silent or fail to take any action if its national security is threatened.

As for the impacts of incidents in Ukraine on the situation in Syria, al-Shebel said it is difficult to predict now the way of impacts, but relations of countries and their interests are all “one bloc” or to say “it can’t be taken separately.”

“We have to see the outcomes… the outcomes tell you that if your ally has triumphed, so you have triumphed, and if your ally came out of this crisis stronger, of course it is strong, but after fortifying the national security, you will be stronger,” al-Shebel added.

She said that the war in Syria is not isolated to what is going on in the world, and it is actually part of what is taking place in the world.
