The 7th retrospective exhibition of graphic art opened in Damascus

The seventh retrospective exhibition of graphic art, is currently being hosted by the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh in Damascus.

The exhibition, which was held by the Ministry of Culture – the Directorate of Fine Arts, includs 30 graphic panels with various styles, techniques and topics for different generations of Syrian artists.

The Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mshaweh told reporters that “Graphic art is a formative expressive method based on the use of the technique of engraving on wood, copper, or stone, because the roots of this art are very old”.

she added: “We are very proud of our ministry’s activities, which are estimated at thousands, and we seek to hold multiple exhibitions with specific topics that deserve to be presented to the public, and on which analytical and critical studies are conducted in plastic art that help advance the fine movement.”

The Director of Fine Arts at the Ministry of Culture Waseem Abdel Hamid explained that  “the importance of this exhibition stems from the diversity of displayed works of pioneers of plastic artists”.

 For her  part, Rana Hussein, The head of the exhibitions and collections Department, pointed out that the works in the exhibition are from the possessions of the Ministry and the Directorate of Fine Arts, and cobver three different generations, starting in the seventies, for pioneers of graphic art, indicating that the aim of the retrospective exhibition is to bring generations together and to make the young generation benefit from the experiences of adults through practical and critical studies.

Rabab Ahmad, the head of the Arab Cultural Center said that The exhibition includes graphic paintings for important Syrian artists. Every Syrian artist has his artistic school which often expressive, a private vision, and his special tools that make him distinguished artist.
