Iran: Illegal presence of foreign forces in Syria provides suitable conditions for terrorist activities
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht Ravanchi has reiterated that the continued illegal presence of foreign forces in Syria, including those of the United States, facilities the activities of the terrorists organizations in the country, stressing his country’s firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.
“The illegal presence of foreign forces in parts of Syria, which has provided favorable conditions for terrorist activities in the country, must end immediately,” he said in a statement during a Security Council meeting on Friday.
He added that the free movement of terrorist groups, including ISIS (Daesh) in the Syrian areas occupied by these foreign forces and the transfer of terrorists to other countries endangers regional and international peace and security.
Takht Ravanchi condemned these foreign forces’ crimes of looting the Syrian people’s natural resources, particularly oil and major agricultural crops, urging the immediate lifting of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by western countries on the Syrians.
The Iranian diplomat also condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on the Syrian territories, pointing out that these attacks flagrantly violate the international humanitarian law, calling on the Security Council to hold the Israeli entity accountable for these acts of aggression.
