Ukraine’s Security Services preparing provocations similar to those practiced by “White Helmets” in Syria: Russian MoD

The Russian Defense Ministry has announced that Ukraine’s Security Services are preparing provocations similar to those practiced by the terror group “White Helmets” in Syria.

According to Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov, Kiev plans to shoot staged videos claiming to show mass casualties among Ukrainian civilians.

“Their goal is to accuse Russia of allegedly conducting non-selective and disproportionate strikes, and to intimidate the civilian population, as well as broadcast these videos on Western TV channels”, Konashenkov said, according to Sputnik.

The spokesman echoed an earlier statement by the Defense Ministry that the Russian forces deployed on the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) are not carrying out strikes on Ukrainian cities. Konashenkov stressed that there was no threat to Ukraine’s civilian population.

 Konashenkov said, according to Itar Tass, that the Ukrainian border guards offered no resistance to Russian forces and according to the available intelligence Ukrainian soldiers were massively vacating positions and leaving weapons.

He stressed that the positions of Ukrainian military units that had agreed to lay down arms were not being attacked, while Russian smart weapons were being used to eliminate military infrastructures, air defense facilities, airdromes and aircraft.
