New Delhi- Participants in Conference on Peace in Syria have voiced support for Syria’s people and leadership in the confrontation of the foreign-backed terrorism the country has been experiencing for more than two years.
A number of Indian cultural and academic figures as well as representatives from India’s Branch of the National Union of Syrian Student took part in the conference, which was held in the Indian city of Bareilley by the Agency of the International Peace Committee in the country.
The conferees hoped that peace and security will be restored to Syria and that the armed groups’ terrorist crimes against the Syrian people will be stopped.
Syrian Ambassador to India Riad Abbas, who was honored during the conference, briefed the participants on the latest developments in Syria and on the suffering of the Syrian people under the internationally-backed organized terrorism which has been targeting the Syrian state and people.
He reiterated the importance of the role that can be played by peace-loving countries in supporting peoples’ just causes and in fighting all forms of terrorism.
The Ambassador highly appreciated India’s keenness to attain a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria and thanked the Indian government and people for their solidarity with Syria and for their rejection of any kind of foreign interference in the Syrian affairs.
