Cuba: NATO expansion towards Russia’s borders is a threat to regional and international security

Havana (ST): Cuba asserted that the determination of the United States to impose the gradual expansion of NATO towards Russia’s borders constitutes a threat to Russian national security and to regional and international peace.

“The United States government has been threatening Russia for weeks and manipulating the international community about the dangers of an imminent mass invasion of Ukraine.  In return, the Kiev authorities have supplied weapons and military technology, deployed forces in various countries in the region, imposed unilateral and unfair sanctions and threatened actions,” said a statement issued by the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

The statement pointed out that Cuba had previously warned of the danger of this policy, calling on the United States and NATO to deal seriously and realistically with the security guarantees of the Russian Federation, which has the right to defend itself.
