Syria and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) signed a cooperation agreement to establish a national center for training in the field of intellectual property.
The agreement, signed by Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Husam El-Din Ala, and the Deputy Director of the organization, Ambassador Hassan Kulaib, provides support and assistance to the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection as the national institution in charge of the project to establish a national center for training, teaching and education in the field of intellectual property and advice and assistance on the institutional framework, infrastructure and curricula design for the main training programs by taking advantage of the qualification programs provided by the WIPO Academy which enjoys the necessary consultants for this purpose.
The agreement comes in the context of implementing the strategic goals that the Organization seeks to achieve in support of its member states, foremost of which is facilitating the use of intellectual property for development.
